About us

My name is Jeff Jones. I'm a cyclist committed to the non-suspended bicycle. My ideas and passion have created an exceptional ride - a trail-blazing geometry that delivers superb handling, comfort and efficiency. My bikes are available in titanium and steel, to be ridden off-road (and on) for exploring and racing, adventures and fun. They are outrageously responsive bicycles - frame and forks designed in harmony to provide a rigid bicycle that is anything but. A pure cycling experience like no other.

Electric Bicycles

The Only Bike You'll Ever Need!

Built up with a heavy-duty frame, strong wheels, quality motors, durable components, and easy to use electronics, the Jones Plus LWB HD/e complete bikes are for riding fast, slow, the rough with the smooth; safely, aggressively, laid-back or raging; with a big load or stripped to the bare essentials; on road, dirt, mud, snow; in the mountains, on the flat lands, around town or across the county; around the world or your local loop; for getting rad or just getting away. The high-performance, heavy-duty electric bicycle that is efficient and comfortable.

A Jones bike is great for all kinds of riding, on-road and off, touring, commuting, bikepacking, technical trails, loaded or unloaded. The frames and forks are designed together so they work together, a frameset, to deliver a great handling bike. Jones Geometry. Your are perfectly positioned (balanced) between the wheels. You sit back and upright, with less weight on your hands and your head up – the position is natural and very comfortable. They don’t ‘fit’ like ‘normal bikes’ – they really fit!

The Jones Plus LWB HD/e is based on the Jones Plus LWB, a design that has proven itself as one of the most versatile bikes around, winning awards for its abilities as a bikepacking bike, as well as praise for just about all other types of riding. HD/e stands for heavy-duty and electric and the frame is built stiffer, stronger, and longer. Combine this with Jones Geometry, the upright riding position, big 29” wheels with 36 spokes and plus size tires, and we have an excellent platform for motorized riding!

Heavy Duty Features

  • Jones Plus LWB HD/e Frameset.
  • Wheels with 50 mm wide rims, 36 spokes, Schrader valve stems and big 29” x 3.25 knobby tires or 29” x 2.8” smooth tires.
  • BB7 disk brakes with 203 mm rotors front and rear.
  • 1 x 12 speed drivetrain with a single click shifter. Also a steel chainring and cassette teeth.
  • Bigger seat with deeper padding and chromoly rails.
  • And more!

The Jones Plus LWB HD/e frames and unicrown forks are made from heat treated 4130 chromoly steel. Our LWB HD/e steel frames have a great feel to them that is stiffer, stronger and with a little more weight than the non HD/e version, ~ 300 grams. Perfect for an electric bike.

The Jones Plus LWB HD/e has a standard 68 mm English/BSA threaded bottom bracket which is one of the most commonly used bottom bracket shells in use today. This allows the frame to be built up with either a mid-drive ebike motor, or, a regular bicycle crankset.

There are two options for motors, the 500 W BBS02 and the 750 W BBSHD. Both options are mid-drive motors from Bafang and are high-performing, lightweight, quiet, well engineered and well proven in their durability. Mid-drive motors offer a low center of gravity and the ability to gear down the motor for increased torque and control at lower riding speeds. Both motors have a pedal assist systems (PAS), that gives you motor power when you pedal. You can choose the level of motor assistance that you would like as you ride using the on the handlebar display. The display also shows battery level, speed, distance and other details. Both motor options use a similar LCD display and the same brake sensing levers, wiring harness, battery mount, and speed sensor.

The BBS02 is a popular and reliable mid-drive motor from Bafang. At 500 W, it has plenty of power for trails, city, and all types of riding. It is lighter weight, smaller, and more affordable than the BBSHD.  The bikes that come with the BBS02 option do not come with a throttle, but one can easily be added.

At 750 W, the BBSHD ebikes have the maximum amount of power allowed for ebikes in many places. It is similar to the BBS02 but is more robust, is slightly larger, heavier, and has bigger cooling fins. The bikes with the BBSHD motor come with a throttle.

Range

The distance you can ride an ebike on a full battery charge varies greatly depending on several variables.

Here are some tips on how to increase the range of your ebike. It's just like trying to get better mileage in a car by driving in a way where you conserve energy. Driving real smooth with easy accelerations and not speeding will increase your mileage.

  • Pedal to help the motor as much as you can.
  • Pedal at a higher cadence.
  • Use a lower power level when possible, especially at lower speeds.
  • Pedal only when starting out, power level 0. Then increase power assist once moving.
  • Don’t use power on downhills.

Here are the stats from some of the rides we've done. Some riders are stronger than others and individual results will vary:

10.4 Ah battery: 22 miles, 3500 vertical feet, 3 hours of riding

17.5 Ah battery: 30 miles, 5000 vertical feet, 4 hours of riding

17.5 Ah battery: 41 miles, 4,500 vertical feet, 3 hours of riding

42 Ah battery: 101 miles, 12,600 vertical feet, 6.5 hours of riding

42 Ah battery: 100 miles, 10,000 vertical feet, 7 hours of riding

Please note: We are currently out of stock of the 42 Ah batteries.

Check out this video of the HD/e on a 5-day gravel bike stage race near Bend Oregon. It covered 326 miles, climbed 28,000 ft, and had around 20 hours of riding.
